At ABCme, we are parents first.
We understand the hesitation that comes with uploading a photo of your child into any digital system. It is something we thought about deeply when we started building this product.
That is why we wanted to step away from legal language for a moment and talk to you directly. Parent to parent.
We want to be transparent about how we think about trust and safety, and the specific choices we made to protect your child’s data.
We delete all child photos immediately after your book is created.
This is a deliberate choice.
It means that if you want to make another book next month, you will need to upload that photo again. We know that can feel inconvenient in a world of one click everything.
We still believe it is worth it.
A little friction is a small price to pay for knowing we are not storing a library of children’s faces on our servers.
Because we delete photos right away, we do not use them to train or improve our models.
That comes with a tradeoff.
The line art illustration of your child may not be a perfect photographic match. It will be a recognizable and delightful version that works beautifully for a coloring book.
We chose strong likeness and full privacy over perfect likeness and data retention.
We think that is the right call.
While we use modern tools to help create books, the foundation of ABCme is human made.
Hand picked libraries.
Every category, from insects to fantasy worlds, is created and reviewed by our team to make sure it is age appropriate, consistent in style and safe for kids.
Accuracy matters.
Our insect and dinosaur pages are designed to reflect the real world. We want your child to learn what a praying mantis actually looks like while they color it. (ok, ok, maybe minus the smiling faces, these are for kids, after all..)
We do not cut corners on infrastructure.
ABCme runs on modern cloud systems with strong security built in from day one. We use industry standard protections to secure data in transit and in storage.
It is not flashy, but it matters.
We combine automation with human review.
That means best practices behind the scenes, plus real people checking the backgound images that goes into your child’s book (ONLY YOU will ever see your child's photo and line art).
If we would not give it to our own kid, it does not ship.
We are not a faceless tech company.
We are a family run project trying to make early literacy more engaging and far less screen dependent.
If you ever have questions about how we handle data, just reach out. We are happy to talk.
Sincerely,
Evy & Erik
